Frequently Asked Questions
Starting a home care journey brings up a lot of questions. Here’s what families ask us most, and if you don’t see yours, just give us a call.
What areas do you serve?
We proudly serve Dubuque, Asbury, Sageville, Peosta, Centralia, Durango, Key West, Table Mound, and the surrounding area.
How much does in-home care cost?
Cost depends on the services and hours your loved one needs. Contact our office directly and we’ll walk you through a full list of services and current rates.
Do you accept Medicare or insurance?
We’re a private-pay home care service, so we don’t currently bill Medicare. If you have questions about other payment options, give us a call and we’ll talk through what’s possible.
How do I get started?
Reach out by phone or through our contact form. We’ll talk through your loved one’s needs together and put together a personalized care plan from there.
How are caregivers screened and hired?
Every caregiver goes through a personal interview and a background check before joining our team. We take real care in who we bring into your home.
What services does Care In Place provide?
We provide comprehensive in-home assistance and personal care designed to improve the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of seniors, from daily companionship and light housekeeping to specialized support for mobility, hygiene, and memory care.
What’s the difference between companion care, personal care, and memory care?
Companion care focuses on social engagement and emotional wellbeing, reducing loneliness and providing someone to talk to and do activities with. Personal care adds hands-on help with daily living, like bathing, dressing, and mobility. Our specialized memory care is for clients living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, or recovering from a stroke, delivered by caregivers with training specific to those needs.
What conditions can your caregivers help with?
Beyond general daily support, our caregivers provide dedicated care for Alzheimer’s and dementia, Parkinson’s and stroke recovery, along with companionship, personal care, and respite care.
What kinds of daily tasks can a caregiver help with?
Transportation to appointments, shopping, and social outings; hygiene care like bathing, grooming, and dressing; meal preparation; light housekeeping; and medication reminders.
Are services available 24/7?
Yes. Services are available for as little as a couple of hours a visit up to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
What is respite care?
Respite care provides short-term relief for family caregivers, so you can rest, travel, or handle other responsibilities knowing your loved one is in trusted hands, whether that’s for a few hours or several days.
What is “aging in place”?
Aging in place refers to seniors choosing to remain in their own home as they get older, rather than moving to an independent or assisted living community. According to AARP, a majority of seniors prefer to stay in their homes for as long as possible, and that’s exactly what Care In Place is built to support.
